LOGOS:Who we are.

Logos Books & Records, Santa Cruz, California. Since 1969 Logos has been the premier buyer and seller of used, collectible and rare books and music on the Central Coast. Over the years we have grown from a small, one-room store to a two-floor, 11,000 square foot new building housing over a quarter million used books, records, CDs and DVDs. Each day our experienced staff culls through thousands of books and music items looking for the best, the unusual, the rare. In addition, we specialize in selling the greatest sale-priced and remaindered books and bargain music- both popular and academic - we can find. How special are we? Logos Books & Records, Santa Cruz, California. First we want to buy your books and music. 85% of our huge selection comes from people like you. To make this easiest and most profitable for both of us it helps to know the following:

Our selection process:

What we Pay: Logos has a reputation for paying top prices. Our pay structure can be broken down in the following way:

Books
• Paperbacks: clean, quality (not mass market) = up to 30% in cash or 50% in trade (of the cover price).
• Paperbacks: mass market and quality (less-than-perfect) = up to 20% in cash or 40% in trade (of the cover price)
• Hardcovers: individual offers (based on desirability, collectibility, condition and edition)
• Rare and collectible: special offers made for special items. We do a lot of research and will offer a price commensurate with the value of the item. We are NOT the type of store that will pay you a dollar and turn around to sell your book for a thousand. Our feeling has always been that if we pay the best prices, we'll get the best books.

Music and DVDs

As a rule Logos pays the highest prices in the area for music and DVDs. We make individual offers on all records, CDs, cassettes and DVDs. Rare and collectible music is given special consideration. Here too we have built our excellent collection on a policy of paying the best prices.

Buying Hours and the Rules:

Logos is required to see a valid, picture ID in order to buy from any individual.

Examples include:
Passport
State Issued driver's license
DMV issued California ID
Military ID
Local Student Card

These DO NOT include:
Check cashing card
Health Spa card
Jail release card
Santa Cruz Metro Card
A PICTURE of a Picture ID

We buy seven (7) days a week, starting at ten in the morning (10:00 am) every day. We buy all day on a first come basis; however our buying schedule fills up early and we strongly recommend that you call ahead to set up an appointment. This is the best way to insure that we will be able to take in your items that day, or another day of your choosing. Please call (831 427-5100 option #6) to make the appointment.

We finish all buys by closing time (10:00 pm Sunday-Thursday and 11:00 pm Friday and Saturday). Unless special arrangements have been made, you must return before closing to accept your offer and pick up anything we can't use. We also offer a free donation service for those items we can't use and you don't want back. If you choose this option you do not need to return the same day.

If you are selling ten-plus (10+) boxes, or have a library or some other large collection it may take us more than one day to finish your buy. Also, if you are unable to bring in your collection we may be able to pick it up. In both cases please call to make these arrangements.

LOGOS:Directions.

On Pacific Garden Mall. In the heart of Santa Cruz.

#1. If you are coming from Highway 1 North or Mission Street...

Take MISSION Street to Laurel. Turn RIGHT on LAUREL through two lights to CEDAR Street. LEFT on CEDAR. Three blocks to CATHCART. Go through the stop sign at Cathcart then turn RIGHT into our parking lot behind our store.

#2. If you are coming from Highway 17...

Follow the signs to Highway 1 North. Go through the first stop light which is Highway 9. The second stop light is Highway 1 North, but don't turn. Go STRAIGHT. You'll be on CHESTNUT Street. Turn LEFT at the second stop sign which is LINCOLN Street. Go to the second stop sign which is CEDAR Street and turn RIGHT. And then turn LEFT into the parking lot which is behind our store.

#3. If you are coming from Highway 1 South...

Stay on the freeway which ends at Highway 9. Go through that light then the second stop light is Highway 1 North, but don't turn. Go STRAIGHT. You'll be on CHESTNUT Street. Turn LEFT at the second stop sign which is LINCOLN Street. Go to the second stop sign which is CEDAR Street and turn RIGHT. And then turn LEFT into the parking lot which is behind our store.

We have several methods for ordering.

1. If you are ordering from any of our ONLINE sites, please follow their individual directions for ordering and payment.

2. If you are ordering DIRECTLY from LOGOS, we accept several methods of payment: Mastercard, VISA, PayPal, checks and money orders. You may either call in, fax, or email your order to us. Of course, if you are in the Santa Cruz area, just stop by. The easiest way to complete your direct transaction is to email or call us to inquire about the availability of the title.
